(Photograph) - Michael McGeary (right) from Portobello High in Edinburgh has been judged Scotland’s top instrumental music teacher in the annual competition run by Yamaha.
Mr McGeary beat 13 other finalists to take the title which he was awarded at a dinner in Dundee last weekend. He said he was surprised to be nominated, delighted to get so far and stunned to have won.
Edmond Fivet, chairman of the jury and principal of the Welsh College of Music and Drama, commented: “Scotland is very fortunate to have such a large number of dedicated, innovative, caring and professional music teachers. Our choice of winner was based on the finalist who represented all these qualities in abundance.”
