CAN I reassure Anthony Handley that I am not seeking to silence him on the issue of performance-related pay (TES, May 26). On the contrary, I was encouraging him to raise the debate in the appropriate quarters, but not under the auspices o the General Teaching Council, which has no locus in such matters.
