* Cambridge university has advised A-level students to stick to “traditional” subjects if they want to be a “realistic applicant” for its courses. A list of A-levels on its website which it considers “less effective” preparation for entry includes subjects such as media studies, health and social care, performing arts, accounting and business studies.
