Trainers overlook training for staff

One in three staff working for training organisations or awarding bodies feels they offer few opportunities for their own employees to improve their skills, according to new research, writes Ben Russell.

And nearly half felt their employers were bad at managing staff, according to the survey of 255 people carried out by the Manufacturing Science and Finance union.

More than 40 per cent of staff felt insecure in their jobs, while two-thirds reported problems with stress.

And 60 per cent regularly had to work overtime.

The MSF report said that people working in training, examinations and awards organisations have been expressing increasing concerns about the employment practices of their employers. Change has dominated their industrial relations during the past 10 years.
