Recent headlines have emphasised the negative side of school adventure trips, the deaths and dangers rather than the excitement and achievement.

The Plas y Brenin Centre in Snowdonia is offering two training days on Thursday March 18 and Sunday March 21 for leaders who would like to bring groups to try out canoeing, mountaineering, abseiling, orienteering and dry-slope skiing. Experienced staff will show how to make sensible plans and implement reasonable safety precautions while enjoying some of the most thrilling landscapes in the British Isles. To book a free place, contact youth co-ordinator Lissie Smith.
