THE BASIC Skills Agency and Tesco have launched a joint training scheme to prepare potential staff for Tesco’s proposed super store in Litherland, Merseyside.

Courses in basic skills will be offered at Hugh Baird college, Bootle. The courses will be developed, with advice on quality assurance and computer skills, by the BSA. It is expected that the Litherland store will offer a model which involves local people being interviewed and offered basic skills leading to jobs in the store when they finish the course.
