Ebenezer Scrooge is the meanest man in London, his cashbox as firmly locked as his heart. Until Christmas Eve, when the clocks stop, things begin to go bump in the night and his life is changed forever. Tim Pigott-Smith plays the classic character at the Lyric Hammersmith from 29 November until 4 January. To win one of two pairs of tickets for any performance (subject to availability), just answer the question: Who wrote the novel A Christmas Carol?

Give your class a break

Sue Hollister’s Year 10 German class at Cwmtawe comprehensive in Swansea are a dream to teach. “They’re a wide mix of ability and characters but their warmth, enthusiasm and humour make me relish every lesson.” She wins this week’s bumper box of KitKats. If your class deserves a treat, tell us why in no more than 50 words (Do they work hard? Do they cheer you up?). We have a box of 48, four-finger KitKats to give away every week this term. The most convincing answer wins. For the KitKat offer email: friday@tes.co.uk.*
