A trek in the wilds

Young people have a chance to experience life in the wilds of the Scottish islands, thanks to a charity set up to benefit disadvantaged students.

Camp amp; Trek is based on the Isle of Skye and was launched three years ago to provide challenging outdoor activities for young people over 12 who cannot afford to pay.

The activities on Skye, and on the nearby island of Raasay, run from Easter to October. They include camping, sailing, hill walking, canoeing and horse riding, in an unspoiled setting. The youngsters are guided at all times by qualified instructors..

Camp amp; Trek would like to hear from any professionals who know of young people who could benefit from these courses. Recommendations can come from any third party - a teacher, GP, youth worker, church, or another charitable organisatios.

The trips are subsidised by Camp amp; Trek, but some travelling expenses should be expected.
