A year after the tsunami, the British Red Cross has produced two assembly kits (one secondary and one primary). There is a slide show of six photographs, but the essential matter consists of accounts from four people involved. These are a fisherman from Sri Lanka whose nets and boat were destroyed, an Indonesian shop-keeper whose village disappeared, an Englishman whose daughter was drowned and an English volunteer fund-raiser.

Their testaments show how hope can arise from despair. The Tsunami assemblykits are available at www.redcross.org.ukeducation
