More than 700,000 turkeys have been saved since the Government banned the infamous Turkey Twizzlers from school dinners, according to figures released this week. Television chef Jamie Oliver singled out the meat products for criticism in his campaign for healthier school meals. The School Food Trust said the news would bring welcome relief for turkeys at a particularly nervous time of year.
