Two out of five young adults found school science lessons boring and two-thirds believe they were irrelevant to their current career.

Three-quarters of the 610 18 to 34-year-olds questioned by YouGov wanted more experiments to make lessons more interesting. The poll was commissioned by Edge, a practical learning foundation, which launched a competition intended to inspire scientists of the future.
