The 2004 “Children’s Turner Prize” has been won by three Aberdeen primary schools. The UK Artworks Award from the Clore Duffield Foundation has previously gone to Room 13 at Caol primary, Fort William. Working collaboratively with contemporary artist Julia Douglas, the P4-5 children from Aberdeen produced artworks exploring the idea of “just about everywhere they’d ever been and everything they’d ever seen, eaten, worn and owned”. They then helped to curate a final exhibition at Peacock Visual Arts, a local contemporary gallery, which included a dress made entirely of gloves. Kirkhill, Craighill and Abbotswell primary schools each receive pound;1,000. Their work was on display at Tate Modern in London until last week.
