TV brought excitement to election

If there was ever a time when those teaching media studies should crow about the importance of their courses - often dismissed as a "soft option" - it was as we came up to the 2010 general election.

Were any of us really surprised by Nick Clegg's skills in manipulating the live debates? Probably not.

The politicial establishment underestimated the appeal that the TV debates would have in this X-Factor age.
