Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw this week claimed that the Department for Education and thinktanks were leading “right-wing attacks” against the schools inspectorate for England. The former headteacher said the sniping left him “spitting blood” and accused the government of briefing against his agency. But sympathy was in short supply on Twitter.

Interesting that Sir Michael Wilshaw is suddenly “spitting blood” as his office is under attack - now he knows how the teachers feel.

@Efficacy56

Wilshaw bleating about inspectors crying in his office will gain no sympathy from teachers I’m afraid.

@SchoolsImprove

I liked Wilshaw’s mature response to criticism of Ofsted. I’ll use a similar approach after my next lesson observation.

@DrewBurdett

Wilshaw not chuffed when boot is on other foot. Welcome to our world...
