Charity trustee Donald Clark wrote a piece for TES Connect last week about how massive open online courses (Moocs) have expanded from higher education to the vocational learning sector, spawning the acronym Voocs (bit.lyVoocs). Some educational tweeters remain to be convinced about this development, however.

Moocs are failing in HE amp; looking to FE to save their bacon. We need more focus on (vocational) pedagogy.

@CathyEllis121

That’s it - we need to start Snoocs to cock at Voocs, don’t we? Perhaps mixing online with Boocs (an older technology).

@nogbad

Don’t we think this has gone overboard - any other letters in the alphabet left?

@LearnKotch

What about MoocsVoocs for delivery (of foundation degrees) in FE? Our numbers are low. We’d love to deliver this way.

@GillHitchin.
