TWO schoolboys aged 13 and 15 were in a critical condition after shooting each other in a gunfight in New Orleans on Tuesday.

Witnesses told police that, after an argument outside the cafeteria at Carter G. Woodson middle school, the 13-year-old pupil took a gun from someone who passed the weapon through a fence.

He shot the15-year-old in the chest, but the older boy then grabbed the gun and shot back, said a police spokesman.

The younger boy will be charged with attempted murder, while the boy who is suspected of supplying the gun was still being sought.

It is believed that he has recently been expelled from the school for fighting.
