College staff in Northern Ireland are heading for confrontation with employers over pay, leaders of lecturers’ union NATFHE warned this week. Regional officer Jim McKeown said staff were angry at the province’s education and library boards, which run colleges, for failing to offer a pay rise from September.

“Unless the employers move to meet our concerns, then NATFHE will be balloting members for industrial action in September,” he said.
