Underhand dealings feed the debate

The recent allegations of professional misconduct in public examinations by exam board WJEC have raised important supplementary questions that have been unresolved for far too long.

There are clearly too many exam bodies in the UK examining too many subjects at too many levels and grades. The frequency of subject exams within the academic year is too great. The net result is that the exam system needs to be rationalised for the wholesale benefit of candidates, teachers, parents and employers. This item should be on Michael Gove’s list of New Year’s resolutions.
