A consultation carried out by Young Scot for the Scottish Executive has found that 55 per cent of 12 to 18-year-olds want a choice in what they eat at school and do not want an outright ban on unhealthy options.

The consultation, in which more than 300 secondary pupils in 29 education authorities took part, was aimed at seeking their views on the Schools (Nutrition and Health Promotion) Bill, which plans to ban junk food and sugary drinks.
