Union double checks its figures

The controversy over Natfhe president Sam Allen’s expenses shows no sign of going away. I hear the lecturers’ union’s general secretary Paul Mackney called in chartered accountants Knox Cropper after the alleged irregularities were reported in FE Focus last month.

Mr Mackney says he has seen no evidence of any wrongdoing by Mr Allen, but he is concerned about the lack of double-checking by the finance department at the union’s HQ in Kings Cross, London.
