NEW teachers could have to work five years longer as a result of pension reforms proposed this week by the Government. The classroom unions warned the move to a public-sector retirement age of 65 (currently 60 for teachers) would discourage people from entering the profession. Mature career changers, who currently make up around a third of new entrants, could be particularly affected.
