About 400 Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire pupils from 20 schools visited King’s College over two days last week for events organised by Aberdeen City Council Modern Studies Network and the university’s school of social science.
Tom Ferguson, Dyce Academy’s principal teacher of modern studies, said: “The pupils get a lot out of the event at a time when they’re studying hard for their forthcoming exams. The advice they receive from the university experts is a great help and may be one reason for the successful results of our schools in recent years.”
Topics covered included UK electoral systems, American politics, voting patterns and health and wealth issues. There was also a presentation on how to pass Higher modern studies.
