MILLIONS of pounds for in-service training for teachers could be transferred from universities to schools under proposals being discussed by the Government. Ministers are considering adding the annual pound;23.5 million training budget to the school standards fund in a move that would be welcomed by headteachers. But university training providers claim that the move would lead to job losses and reduce the choice of training available to teachers.
