LISA Anderson says she was given no warning that the date of her retirement would be changed. “The only reason I found out was when I got a letter from SOPA asking for confirmation of my intention to retire on August 17.

“I’ve heard not a word from West Dunbartonshire despite phoning repeatedly and leaving messages. Yet I got a beautiful bunch of flowers from the garden company where my husband works two days a week.”

As a result of the case the SSTA is to revise its guidance, advising members to leave it to the last possible minute before notifying the pensions agency.
