AS A trainee-teacher I recently wrote to the National Centre for Literacy and Numeracy to request a copy of their literacy spelling bank document.

I received this reply: “Unfortunatley (sic) we do not send materials out to students. We only supply schools. Youshould have access to these materials in schools.” Why are students not allowed to own a copy of this book? And more importantly: why can’t the National Centre for Literacy spell “unfortunately”?
