The system for assessing the additional needs of young people requires immediate attention to make it work more effectively, a study for the National Foundation for Educational Research has found. The common assessment framework is having a positive impact in schools, researchers claimed, but better national leadership is required to ensure all agencies are working in a co-ordinated way.
