A HIGH school teacher in the United States has been arrested and charged with assault for allegedly biting a student after she left his class without permission. Ernie Latorre, 52, was placed on paid leave from Burrilville High School in the north-eastern state of Rhode Island. Mr Latorre, a popular English teacher at the school since 1969, denied the charges. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
