The majority of children who murder or commit violent crimes have been the victims of abuse or trauma themselves, according to new research.

Gwyneth Boswell, of the University of East Anglia’s social work school, found more than 90 per cent of offenders aged 10 to 17 years had experienced abuse or the loss of a parent or carer in early life.
