Children can contribute to the work of Action for Blind People by joining the Insight Challenge. The accompanying pack provides special spectacles that mimic the experiences of tunnel vision, patchy vision and loss of central vision. Pupils might also try designing a toy for a blind child or use the senses of touch, taste and smell to explore and describe an invisible world. Factsheets explain how Braille was developed and how the eye works, as well as celebrating the achievements of people like Claude Monet and Ray Charles. Fundraising ideas add a business-like dimension. The closing date is December 12. The Insight Challenge pack is available from Action for Blind People, 14-16 Verney Road, London SE16 3DZ.
