The new outfit responsible for the standards of training of post-16 education staff made the first of many visits to Parliament this week, for its official launch.
The gathering was held at the invitation of Barry Sheerman, chairman of the Commons education select committee before the election.
He said the new body - Lifelong Learning UK - has a “vital” job to do as the standard of further education comes under increasing scrutiny from Government.
LLUK will be bringing colleges together with universities and other post-16 education organisations to create a common set of standards, a task Mr Sheerman said would be a major achievement.
Parliament is in recess, but Mr Sheerman told FE Focus: “If I return to the job of committee chairman, I will want to get them in front of us pretty damn quickly.”
