A hunt for the best young photographic talent in the UK has been launched by Norwich University of the Arts. Its annual Beyond the Frame competition is open for entries, and encourages 11- to 19-year-olds to send in their snaps.

This year’s theme is “Through My Eyes” and gives students the opportunity to enter portraiture and fashion, societal and environmental images.

There are two awards up for grabs: one for 11- to 15-year-olds and one for 16- to 19-year-olds. The winners will receive £1,000 of Canon camera equipment, and the runners-up will get judges’ choice prizes.

Tes FE editor Stehen Exley is on the judging panel alongside celebrated fine art photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten, acclaimed travel and adventure photographer and blogger Fay Doyle, NUA course leader for photography James Smith and fashion and portrait photographer Kane Layland. 

Finalists will be invited to an awards day and exhibition of their work at Norwich University of the Arts’ East Gallery. The finalists will be offered workshops and talks from the judges before the winner and runners-up are revealed.
