Primary schools must inform parents if they find a child is overweight or obese, Edward Leigh, the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee said this week.

His comments came as the Parliamentary committee criticised the Government’s strategy for tackling childhood obesity as “confused” and “dithering”.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health launched a pound;494,000 scheme to provide 45,000 pedo-meters to children in 250 primary schools.
