The winds of change are blowing in Warwickshire: pupils across the county will be able to witness the effects of a real-life tornado, from their own classrooms.

A library of tornado-observation equipment will be touring Warwickshire schools to help teach children about the impact of climate change and energy waste.

The library will include footage of real-life windstorms, as well as resources to illustrate the way that hot and cold air combine to create a tornado. And pupils will be able to use a thermal-imaging camera to identify poorly insulated areas in their school.

At Bishops Tachbrook Primary, pupils used this camera to check whether Barney, the classroom tortoise, gave off heat despite being cold-blooded. Ellie-Mai Bowen, ten, said: “It makes science such fun. You actually see what happens.” AB.
