The RSNO offers young ensembles the chance to perform foyer music prior to their concerts at venues in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. National Youth Choir of Scotland

The 100-strong choir of 16 to 24-year-olds and its training choir of 15 to 17-year-olds have their residential course at Glenalmond College in July. This is followed by performances of Durufle’s Requiem, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and MacMillan’s motet Beatus Vir at Holy Rude, Stirling on July 12, Inverness Cathedral on July 13, St Machar’s Cathedral, Aberdeen on July 14 and Caird Hall, Dundee on July 15. Scottish Chamber Orchestra

The SCO hopes to continue its Masterworks scheme next session, giving secondary pupils an insider’s view into the make-up and composition of an established masterpiece. National Youth Orchestra of Scotland

The National Youth Orchestra has a number of concerts over the summer. The National Youth Jazz Orchestra will perform at the MacRobert Arts Centre, Stirling on July 2, at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow during International Jazz Festival on July 4 and at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival on August 7. The full orchestra’s summer tour will reach the Music Hall, Aberdeen on August 4 and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on August 5. Further information: 0141 332 8311.

TES Scotland Schools Prom

The 1999 TES Scotland Schools Prom will take place on November 11, 7pm at City Halls, Glasgow. The evening, organised by the National Association of Youth Orchestras in association with TES Scotland, will provide a national platform for some of the best regional school orchestras and bands and celebrate young musical talent in Scotland.
