Personal security training for teachers, improved CCTV and state of the art security devices are part of a pound;22 million package of measures to improve safety in schools, announced by the Department for Education and Employment.
Money from the School Standards Fund School Security Grant will be given to locl education authorities to distribute among schools in the financial year 2001.
“A secure school, where pupils, teachers and parents feel safe and can concentrate their efforts on the day-to-day work of teaching and learning, will lead to higher standards,” said schools minister Estelle Morris.
