Watchdog checks Edexcel system

THE Government’s exam watchdog is investigating claims that Edexcel’s script-checking system breaks the rules. Only eight out of every 30 GCSE and A-level papers are checked by the board to ensure marks have been added up correctly, whereas the other two English boards check every individual script. The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority will evaluate Edexcel’s system and an announcement is expected next week.
