The Campaign for State Education believes that those who educate our children should be educated and professionally trained to the highest possible standard.

That this is far from being the situation in the UK is self-evident, but it is completely naive to suggest that “ruthless” heads can effectively identify and get rid of all the sow’s ears and replace them with potential silk purses.

To develop a more successful teaching profession, we need to look at how teachers are selected and professionally trained in more successful systems than our own, such as that in Finland.
