THE laudable policy of inclusion of children with special needs depends on high-quality support from specialist teachers.
It is a matter of great concern therefore that there is no representative of these teachers on the General Teaching Council. This fact contrasts starkly with the statement of the chief executive Caro Adams that the council “includes teachers with expertise in all phases and sectors of education”. We earnestly hope that this omission will soon be remedied.
