Weary of constant union bashing

Gerard Kelly claims that teachers who belong to unions “have to face up to what you are: middle class” and that, at conference, we “should belt out Jerusalem, not the Red Flag”. I’m a fan of neither tune, and prefer the salutation “colleague” to “comrade”, though I certainly do not consider myself “middle class”. Perhaps Mr Kelly could take up speech-writing for Messrs Gove and Cameron if he ever considers journalism politically stifling.
