For the more mature web-user, this year Silver Surfers’ Day has developed into Silver Surfer Week. Any school can hold a Silver Surfer event, you just have to be willing to invite people aged over 50 into the classroom any time from May 22-26 for a brief, positive experience of the internet and email. In less than one hour you could give someone a glimpse of ways to learn, communicate, create, shop, overcome disadvantages and manage money that they may have never thought possible.
Why not encourage your pupils to give something back to the older generation and display their knowledge of technology and the internet at the same time? The event is the result of a joint collaboration between Age Concern and Digital Unite and free resources have been developed to help organisations get involved.
