One of the world’s leading cellists, Julian Lloyd Webber, is to work with children in the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra this spring.

The Scottish Arts Council and the Foundation for Sport and the Arts have provided funding for Lloyd Webber to work with 30 cellists and 10 bass players from schools in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

The school workshops will be held on March 20 at Aberdeen Grammar and on March 21 at Portobello High, Edinburgh, and Knightswood Secondary, Glasgow.

Lloyd Webber will then tour with the orchestra as soloist in the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by Philip Glass.

The EYO is offering free concert tickets for children in the three cities, at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, on April 8, the Music Hall, Aberdeen, on April 9 and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama concert hall, Glasgow, on April 11.www.edinburghyouthorchestra.org
