Divided into 40 colour-coded categories, the guide contains a summary of the content of 950 websites covering more than 230 subjects. All the sites are listed alphabetically in the index. Each page is well laid out with color photographs or graphics. It is a beautifully designed, user-friendly book.

But how useful is it? With new websites coming on line all the time, the guide inevitably has many omissions. Schools and colleges filter the internet to protect students from offensive, inappropriate sites. But this is not so at home. This is where the guide could be most useful. Saving time and money, it might provide a good starting point for younger children and their parents to gain confidence in using the internet.
