I would like to congratulate Jennifer Baker on her article about the ridiculous website ratemyteachers.com in The TES Scotland of April 14.
This website cannot justify its existence, and should be shut down before it is allowed to become part of popular culture. Pupils, parents and other members of the public have various means of expressing concerns over the quality of education without resorting to the use of online poison pen letters. Even positive comments on the site are valueless due to its nature.
Impressionable pupils are being encouraged to believe that it is some kind of formal educational forum, and it should be nipped in the bud like any other form of bullying.
