Roll-out of a scheme offering teachers three-month sabbaticals to learn and brush up on their Welsh is to be extended to include classroom assistants and possibly supply teachers, Jane Davidson, minister for education, lifelong learning and skills, said in a report this week. The pilot programmes, in Bangor and Cardiff, began in September 2005. Thirty-two teachers had completed courses by the end of last year.
