TEACHERS in Wales could be branded “second division” if given different criteria to the English to pass the pound;2,000 performance threshold, said Welsh education secretary Rosemary Butler.
Speaking at the Welsh Assembly last week against a motion opposing the ink between teachers’ pay and pupils’ results, she said: “Teachers in Wales would be subject to the slur that standards at the threshold were lower for them and that they were being offered easier access to higher pay. It would taint the profession.”
