A pressure group campaigning for more Welsh-medium education provision has backed the formation of starter classes in English-speaking primary schools.

RhAG, or Parents for Welsh Medium Education, launched a discussion paper at its annual conference in Brecon last week, which said that local authorities should consider such an approach as an accelerated way of responding to increasing demand.

Cardiff already has several Welsh-medium starter classes in its schools.
