Welsh youngsters who achieved five good GCSE

* The percentage of Welsh youngsters who achieved five good GCSE passes at grades A*-C last summer rose one percentage point to 52 per cent, according to government statistics. There was no change in the average points score (40), and the proportion getting five A*-G passes (85 per cent). Those scoring at least a grade C in EnglishWelsh, maths and science was also unchanged from 2004, at 38 per cent.
