From the Rotten Romans and Stormin’ Normans through to Mary Seacole and Bob Marley, the story of Britain is a broad and multi-ethnic one.

For teachers of multi-ethnic history, it may seem difficult to know where to start. The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority has provided a handy bibliography of books and websites that make a good entry point.

The bibliography includes Terry Deary’s popular series of Horrible Histories, and also recognises more recent visitors and arrivals to Britain’s shores, such as the Jamaican reggae singer Marley (above).

Marley recorded his most popular album while living in London. Its title, appropriately, is Exodus.
