Highlight of the education debate at the STUC - which for once it was - was the performance of Ian McCubbin, the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers’ man in Perth and Kinross, and EIS irritant.
McCubbin refused to accept a stitch-up behind the scenes on bad behaviour in the classroom (by pupils, not teachers), with the EIS moving against an NASUWT motion. Only no one had told the EIS that McCubbin was not accepting its amendment.
Michty me, fur fair flew among the brothers and sisters with Peter Quigley, EIS incoming president, intervening when he shouldn’t have and doing something or other that . . . zzzzzz
