* “I teach in a Christian school, although I’m from another faith. It shocked me when one of my pupils said, ‘Leave me alone, Paki’. Another boy told me: ‘I am a racist. Tell my parents; they won’t say anything.’ I was horrified, but thankfully nothing more has happened.

“Racism within the classroom is less apparent. My answer is to make it clear that it is unacceptable. I tell my students that it’s not where you’re from that matters to me, it’s who you are and how you behave in class. Teachers play a vital role in setting an example to their students.

They mustn’t show the slightest bit of prejudice and must never tolerate any racism between pupils.” Tasnim_ajmal If you want to contribute to next week’s behaviour forum, go to www.tes.co.ukbehaviour
